Every variant with a valid, unique GTIN gets a code page — open it from the audit list, the Links page, or straight from a product page in Shopify admin.
What's on the code page
The Digital Link address — e.g.
https://506.link/01/09506000134352. This exact address is inside the code.QR code and GS1 Data Matrix — both preview live, and both download as PNG (for docs, emails, quick printing) or SVG (for designers and print production, infinitely scalable).
Optional extras: add a batch/lot number, serial number, or expiry date and the code rebuilds to include them.
Print labels — a repeated sheet of this one product (choose the label preset and quantity).
Publishing
A code only resolves — actually sends scanners somewhere — once you click Publish to 506.link. Publishing registers the GTIN with the resolver and points it at your product's page in your online store.
Until you publish, scanning the code shows a friendly "not registered yet" page (which keeps retrying briefly, so a code scanned seconds after publishing still gets through).
Publishing counts toward your plan's code allowance; re-publishing an existing code never does, and you're never blocked from maintaining codes you already printed.
You can see and manage everything you've published on the Links page.
If the GTIN is already registered by another store
GTINs are global, so two Shopify stores can legitimately sell the same product. The first store to publish a GTIN gets the standard address (506.link/01/…). If someone else registered it first, EasyLink automatically publishes yours under your store's own path (506.link/your-store/01/…) — your codes scan and resolve to your product page, and checkout scanners still read the GTIN perfectly. If you're the brand owner and believe a GTIN has been claimed incorrectly, contact support@506.io.
Golden rule for printed codes
A printed code is permanent — it always contains the exact address it was generated with. You can freely change where it points (it follows your product page), but never delete a published link that's on physical packaging still in circulation.
