Scanning

I scanned my code and got "Product not found / not registered yet." The code exists but hasn't been published — open its code page and click Publish to 506.link. If you published seconds ago, just wait: the page retries automatically for about a minute while the update reaches every location worldwide.

My code scans to the wrong store's product. Two stores can sell the same GTIN, and the shared address belongs to whoever published it first. Your own codes are published under your store's path and always resolve to you — check the exact address on your code page and make sure your labels were printed from it. Brand owner with a claim dispute? Email support@506.io.

The printed label won't scan. Check: printed at 100% scale (not "fit to page"); the white quiet zone around the code isn't cropped; decent contrast (dark code on light label); the label isn't too small for a QR (try the Data Matrix option or a larger preset). Screens scan more forgivingly than paper — always test one printed label before a full run.

Audit & barcodes

A variant shows "malformed" but the barcode looks right. The check digit doesn't match — almost always one mistyped or swapped digit. Re-enter it from the physical product or the supplier's spec sheet.

My audit shows duplicates I can't see. Duplicates can span products — two different products sharing one barcode. Use the Duplicates filter or the CSV export to find both rows.

I fixed a barcode but the audit still shows the old value. Edits normally sync within moments. If not, re-run the audit — it rebuilds everything from scratch.

Labels

"Some labels were skipped" when printing. Between your audit and your print, those variants' barcodes changed and are no longer valid unique GTINs. EasyLink skips them rather than printing wrong codes. Re-run the audit to see their current status.

Prices/titles on labels look outdated. They can't be — label data is fetched live from Shopify at print time. If something looks wrong, check the variant in Shopify admin; what's there is what prints.

Publishing & plans

"Your plan includes N published codes" — I can't publish. You've reached your tier's allowance. Upgrade under Plan → Change plan (prorated automatically, 14-day trial on paid tiers). Existing codes keep working regardless.

Does deleting a product break its printed codes? The published link keeps resolving until it's removed, but it may point at a page that no longer exists. Decide what should happen to circulating stock before deleting products with printed codes.

Everything else

Which scanners/POS systems work with these codes? Any 2D-capable (imaging) scanner reads them, and the GTIN inside follows the GS1 Digital Link standard — the 506.link resolver passes GS1's official conformance test suite in full. Phones need no app: the built-in camera works on iOS and Android.

Can I use my own domain instead of 506.link? Custom resolver domains are on the roadmap for the Pro plan. Codes printed with 506.link addresses will keep working forever regardless.

Still stuck? Email support@506.io with your store domain and, for scanning issues, a photo of the label — we're quick.
